Volunteer New York Announces 2018 Legacy Award Recipient

The award ceremony will be held April 20, 2018.

TARRYTOWN, NY — Volunteer New York, a Tarrytown-based nonprofit organization, announced the recipient of its 2018 Legacy Award. This is the 38th year for the Volunteer Spirit Awards presented by Regeneron.

The winner of the Legacy Award is Geri Shapiro, a senior advisor to Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, D-NY.

Shapiro is a long-time Westchester County resident and is intimately involved with the issues that impact the communities.

“Geri is among those who are quietly working to make our county a better place, all while inspiring and empowering others,” according to a statement from Volunteer New York. “Over her career, she has mentored staff, volunteers and members of the community, particularly women.”

The 2018 Volunteer Spirit Awards breakfast benefit will take place in Tarrytown on April 20, 2018.
