Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: The Tarrytown Vine Squad

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Lower Hudson Valley, courtesy of Volunteer New York!. This is a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.

This week, we are putting the spotlight on some opportunities in the Hudson Valley.

Tarrytown Vine Squad
This hardy crew of environmental enthusiasts helps remove the invasive vines that encroach upon the Tarrytown Lakes and the village's public parks. Volunteers will be cutting back overgrown brush, trimming branches, weed-whacking, and picking up sticks and fallen branches. Volunteers can be 14+ to register (or as young as 10 so long as they register as part an adult's team).
Date: 2/21 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.; alternate Saturdays

Diapers and Baby Wipes Donation Drive
Large diaper sizes (5-6) are the hardest for families to afford, and baby wipes are always in high demand. These everyday necessities help children stay clean, healthy, and ready for daycare and preschool. Donate to this important drive to support children and families across Westchester County! This is a great opportunity for teens as well as groups who want to host a small collection at their workplace, school, gym, or place of worship.

Social Media and Marketing Volunteers
One Paso's annual "Run Your Y" is a 5K run and walk event that aims to promote mental and physical wellness and awareness in underrepresented communities. Passionate and community-minded volunteers with a flair for marketing and communications are needed to support three distinct outreach roles for this event.
