Water Conservation Necessary During Aqueduct Shutdowns

Water will still be available for basic needs including cooking, eating and bathing.

TARRYTOWN, NY — Maintenance on the Catskill Aqueduct will require the state to shut it down on five separate occasions. The New York City Department of Environmental Protection said the aqueduct on the following dates:

  • Nov. 28
  • Dec. 3
  • Dec. 7
  • Dec. 11
  • Dec. 17

Officials said that each of these shutdowns is scheduled to last for 30 hours and start at 12:30 a.m. on the morning of each date.

Water will still be available for basic needs including cooking, eating and bathing.

However, officials said during each of the shutdowns it is imperative that as much water as possible be conserved by each resident and business in the Village of Tarrytown.
