Why can't NYS allow Greenburgh and local governments to have noise cameras?
Noise cameras are allowed all over the nation- but not in Westchester
Last week the Wall Street Journal ran an article about a growing trend -local governments purchasing noise cameras to control noise. I have advocated this for a number of years. But, so far haven’t been successful.
Noise is among the biggest complaints we receive each year. It’s next to impossible to effectively enforce our noise laws because we don’t have enough personnel to catch every offender of our noise laws.. I believe that the Town Board should encourage the State Legislature to authorize the town to test out noise cameras. This should be a priority for 2026. If noise cameras are used by municipalities all over the nation and world – why should Greenburgh not have the ability to implement this tool to address a major quality of life concern.
