Winning Baby Falcon Names Announced For 2019
A spokesman said that more than 1,500 votes were cast. Did you vote for one of the winning names?

TARRYTOWN, NY — The people of the Hudson Valley have spoken. The state Thruway Authority's 2019 Falcon Naming Contest is over and the winning names were chosen through a week-long online poll.
This year's juvenile falcons have been named Talon-ted, Cardi Beak, Rio and Speedy.
Local elementary and middle school classes submitted suggestions for names after the hatching of the four young falcons high atop the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge last month.

More than 1,500 falcon fans voted for their favorite name, according to Thruway spokesman.
The project outreach teams will visit each of the winning classes at Claremont Elementary School in Ossining, Concord Road Elementary School in Ardsley and Washington Irving Intermediate School in Tarrytown during June to deliver award certificates and share more information on the endangered birds.

The nest box, which can be viewed via the 24/7 FalconCam, is man-made and is located 419 feet above the Hudson River on one of the bridge's towers.
As always, the Thruway Authority adds the following note: The FalconCam provides an unfiltered window on the day-to-day lives of these fascinating birds of prey. At any given moment, you may see the adult falcons eating, feeding their young, defending their nest and more. These are wild birds and their behaviors reflect what really happens in nature. Some of their actions may be unpleasant to watch and it is possible that some of the fledglings may not survive into adulthood.
