An inspiring story - Woodlands HS graduate goes to Harvard Law School and now heads up one of Westchester County's most important non profits that help the poor and hungry: Lifting up Westchester

Anahaita Kotval is Chief Executive of Lifting up Westchester, an organization that helps the poor in Westchester. This organization helps men, women and children in need by providing them with food, shelter and support and lifting them to greater self sufficiency with dignity and respect. The group started 40 years ago at Grace Church.

Executive Director Anahaita Kotval grew up in Hartsdale. She graduated from Woodlands HS Class of 1984. She proved that graduates of Woodlands can achieve great success--went on to become a Harvard Law School graduate (cum laude). Prior to Harvard she earned a BS Magna Cum Laude from Brown University. She worked as a prosecutor for the Enforcement Division of the US Securities and Exchange Commission and later became an industry leader in securities regulation at RBS where she served as Managing Director and General Counsel of its investment bank in the Americas.

She feels that if every "american had the opportunity to go to schools that were as racially and socio economically diverse as Juniper Hill, Bailey, Webb and Woodlands were, we would not have the hugh racial and class divides that we are experiencing now" around the United States.

I interviewed Anahaita on my WVOX radio program. Link below: PAUL FEINER
