Writers' Center Teacher Wins Word Works Prize

B.K. Fischer of Sleepy Hollow has won the 2012 Washington Prize for her poetry manuscript, St. Rage’s Vault. Final judges Karren L. Alenier, Jennifer Barber, J. H. Beall, and Nancy White chose Fischer's work from 302 manuscripts submitted by American and Canadian poets. St. Rage's Vault will be Fischer’s second published book. Her novel-in-verse Mutiny Gallery won the 2011 T. S. Eliot Prize from Truman State University Press.
