1 Charged In Suffolk Massage Parlor Raid: Police

The raid was conducted in response to community and quality-of-life complaints, police said.

SETAUKET, NY — A woman was arrested on a charge of unlawful practice of a profession and numerous code violations were issued during a raid of a massage parlor in Setauket on Wednesday, Suffolk police said.

Police said 6th Precinct Crime Section officers and detectives, as well as the Brookhaven Town Fire Marshal and Building Inspector offices, were prompted to investigate Ru Yi Spa on Route 25A at 6 p.m. after receiving community complaints about quality-of-life.

The woman was charged with two counts of unauthorized practice of a profession, a felony, and Brookhaven investigators issued numerous violations for fire and building code offenses, police said.

The woman was released on a Field Appearance Ticket and is scheduled to appear in First District Court in Central Islip on a later date.
