Suffolk Police ID Woman Killed In Stony Brook Hit-And-Run

She was struck in the westbound lane in front of 2350 Rte. 347 and the driver sped off, heading westbound, cops say.

STONY BROOK, NY — A hit-and-run driver struck a 33-year-old woman and killed her in Stony Brook on Monday morning, Suffolk police said.

Gina Paduano of Centereach was in the westbound lanes in front of 2350 Route 347 when she was struck by a car and the driver drove away, heading westbound on Route 347, according to police.

Paduano was later pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.

Route 347 was closed westbound at Stony Brook Road since about 5:30 a.m. while police investigated the scene.

No further details were immediately released by police.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6553 or submita tip anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential, police said.
