UPDATED: Woman Seriously Injured In 3-Car Stony Brook Crash
One driver suffered serious injury, while another had minor injuries, police say.

STONY BROOK, NY — A three-car crash Wednesday afternoon led to injuries and the closure of a major intersection in Stony Brook.
Mariana Debbe, 26, of Miller Place, was driving a 2003 Honda Civic westbound on Route 347 when she tried to turn left onto southbound Nicolls Road around 1:30 p.m., police say. Her car was hit by a 2005 Mercury Mountaineer being driven northbound on Nicolls Road by Deanna Lee Hermida, 23, of Ridge, police say. Debbe's Honda then hit a 2015 Toyota being driven by Jose Salas, 63, of Brentwood, while he was heading eastbound on Route 347 and turning left to head northbound on Nicolls Road, police say.
Debbe was seriously injured and brought to Stony Brook University Hospital. Hermida was brought to the same hospital with minor injuries. Salas was not injured.

The intersection was closed for hours.
All three cars were impounded for safety checks. Detectives ask anyone with information on the crash to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
