SETAUKET, NY — While Saturday was a washout due to the heavy rains, the sun burst through on Sunday as the Setalcott Tribe celebrated their annual Corn festival powwow on the grounds of Setauket Elementary School.

Calling songs kicked off the day's events, followed by the grand entry, which features members of the tribe and visiting tribes. This was followed by traditional dances such as the Veterans Dance, in which members of the military and first responders were recognized.

Other dances included the shall, blanket, fancy dress, and eastern war dances.

The festival featured a display of a canoe and wares like replica fishing gear that would have been used during the tribe's historic presence on the North Shore.

There were vendors featuring crafts and goods from North America and South America. Vendors also sold traditional foods like Indian Tacos, which feature fry bread with beef or chicken, cheese, salsa, lettuce and tomatoes, jalapenos and sour cream.
