The Atelier

Enjoy a day of fun and creativity in this introduction to silk painting, an ancient technique that first originated in India and Eastern Asia. First, you will be guided through a variety of techniques, tools and paints used on silk, as you create your own sample test pieces. Then move on to creating a unique masterpiece scarf or wall hanging of your own. You will learn this wet on wet technique and the unlimited possibilities that occur when allowing the silk friendly fabric paint to co-create with you.

Honor the 250th Anniversary of the formation of the United States of America by volunteering your time safely cleaning historical gravestones in a local cemetery.&nbsp; Representatives from Long Island Graveyards and Cemeteries volunteer group will teach you how to properly clean historical stones using safe chemicals and materials, and explain the historical significance of the graveyard and it’s occupants. Hosted by Emma Clark Library.
Please dress for a mess and bring cleaning gloves if you so desire.&nbsp; All teens and tweens must be accompanied by a supervising adult age 18 years or older.&nbsp; Library staff will also be in attendance.&nbsp; Earn 2.5 hours of community service credit for volunteering.&nbsp;
