Caroline Church Participates in a Group Build for Habitat for Humanity Suffolk
Members of Caroline Church (Episcopal) of Brookhaven participate in a Habitat Build.
On Saturday, June 21st, 2014, seventeen members of Caroline Church donated their time and muscles to assist in a Habitat for Humanity group build in West Hampton Beach! The home itself was mostly complete and will soon be handed over to a family of seven. The Caroline group completed the landscaping in record speed! Leveling the property, preparing it properly for seeding, creating beds, planting shrubs and hauling mulch was the work of the day!
Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk requires a minimum donation of $2500 for an organization to have a group build of its own. Members of Caroline Church managed to achieve the requisite $2500 in less than a year by recycling bottles and cans. This was part of the year round stewardship program – representing stewardship of our environment, time and talent!
After a full day of raking, shoveling, hauling and planting, the following tired, but invigorated group of volunteers all agreed that they would love to do it again:
