Beginners Stained Glass… and a whole lot more

The workshop starts with the basics of cutting, copper foiling and soldering stained glass, then quickly moves on to learning techniques of layering, combining found objects including photos and prints in the work, lighting, framing and hanging. Other than techniques, the class includes design tips and a discussion and worksheet to help the students decide the direction of their art and life.

Students can expect to come home with 2-3 small stained glass wall hangings.

Day One: Student introductions, talk on safety and types of glass. Demonstration of cutting, copper foiling and soldering stained glass. Students will practice techniques with a simple test piece. Discussion of layering, lighting, framing and hanging stained glass. Homework: Design concepts for next class.
