The Dollar-A-Day Boys (A documentary & discussion)

Filmmaker/author Anthony DiFranco, Ph.D. will screen this 35 minute film and then speak and answer questions about its subject, the Civilian Conservation Corps, the most successful of the New Deal programs of the 1930’s. This film won the Best Documentary award at the 2013 Long Island Film Festival and has been screened at venues across the country. Registration required.

In this lecture, Alena Pletneva Veller will take you inside the National 9/11 Memorial and Museum in New York City. The lecture will include a history of the memorial and museum and a virtual tour of the museum collection. It will especially focus on important objects in the museum collection including the Last Column and Survivors Staircase. Registration required.

Retired Long Island Rail Road Branch Line Manager and railroad historian David Morrison will discuss TR’s home station at Oyster Bay, his trip out west by train, his ride on the Panama Railroad and his campaigning across the country by rail. Registration required.

A Literary Look at the U.S. Presidents

Which Presidents wrote what books? Which President won a Pulitzer Prize? Gene Horton will answer these questions, as well as discuss other aspects of the literary lives of our presidents. Registration required.
