East Setauket Home 'Destroyed' By Fire: Police
BREAKING: An occupant managed to evacuate the home in time, according to a report.
EAST SETAUKET, NY — A fire ripped through a large East Setauket home on Wednesday. Calls reporting the fire came in at 11:25 a.m., Suffolk police said, prompting the Setauket Fire Department to respond to the Franklin Avenue home.
An occupant was able to escape in time and was seen holding a small fire extinguisher even as the fully-engulfed home began to collapse, Stringer News reported. The fire was being fed by winds from the north, and multiple fire departments were called to help extinguish it, according to Stringer News.
The home was destroyed in the blaze, police said. Suffolk County Police Arson Unit detectives don't believe arson was the cause of the fire, but they are still investigating.
