Gelinas Math Team Takes Second in National Tournament

P.J. Gelinas Junior High School students William Sun, Ben Templeton, Grant Yu, Rebecca Zhang and Nancy Zhong represented their school and community well as they recently competed in the 2016 Museum of Mathematics’ Tournament of Champions.

The team qualified for the event after their first-place finish in the Suffolk County Regional Tournament, held on Pi Day, March 14. The contest consisted of individual, team and relay rounds with extremely challenging math questions in each portion.

As a result of their hard work and dedication, the Gelinas team placed second out of the 12 championship teams that qualified from other regions.
