For centuries, we've known that the health of the brain and the body are connected. But now, science is able to provide insights into how to make lifestyle choices that may help you keep your brain and body healthy as you age. Join us to learn about research in the areas of diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity and social engagement, and use hands-on tools to help you incorporate these recommendations into a plan for healthy aging. Chair Yoga (Hybrid – Zoom OR In-Person) - Thursdays, October 6, 13, & 20 (11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.)
Experience the many benefits of chair yoga in stabilizing and mobilizing the body, fortifying the respiratory system, and developing a calmer, clearer, more meditative, and focused mind. All you need is a chair that does not have arms (which may get in the way). A strap, belt, or tie will come in handy (but is not necessary). Taught by Jackie Incorvia. This program will be offered simultaneously in person and virtually via Zoom - your choice!

Plant-Based Nutrition (Zoom) - Tuesdays, October 11 & 18 (7:00 – 8:00 p.m.).
Registered dietitians from Cornell Cooperative Extension will provide plant-based nutritional approaches to improving your blood sugar, controlling your blood pressure, and maintaining a healthy weight. In addition to learning about the health benefits of plant based eating, recipes will be share along with substitution suggestions to make menu planning simple, budget friendly and time saving. Catholic Health Mobile Outreach Bus – Free health screenings and flu vaccinations (In-Person) - Thursday, October 20 (Stop by between 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Last screening begins at 1:45 p.m.).
Registered nurses will provide blood pressure, cholesterol, body mass index, and glucose screenings along with patient education and referrals as needed. Free flu vaccinations will be offered by a registered nurse. No appointments are necessary, there are no fees, and insurance is not required.
Registration is required for all classes except the Catholic Health Mobile Outreach Bus. Reserve your spot for one or all at emmaclark.org/programs.
