Jones Beach sporting event draws 8401 runners and walkers from 195 local companies
Ward Melville High School graduate Greg Durso wins in wheelchair athlete category for the third time
The 12th 3.5-mile Marcum Workplace Challenge, Long Island’s largest annual sporting event and charity fundraiser, was won by Yuji Wakimoto in the men's category, Victoria Robitaille in the women's category, and by Ward Melville High School graduate Greg Durso, in the wheelchair athlete category.
The annual Jones Beach event, dubbed as Long Island's largest picnic, was held on July 25 and saw the participation of some 8400 plus runners and walkers from 195 local companies.
Proceeds from the event will benefit four local nonprofits, the Children’s Medical Fund of New York Long Island Cares, the Harry Chapin Food Bank, the Nassau County SPCA , and the Long Island Children’s Museum.

Yuji Wakimoto bested last year's first place time by 7 seconds, while Victoria Robitaille who came in 2nd last year, improved on her 2016 time by 4 seconds.
