As part of the district’s physical education curriculum, teachers Jeanne Lalima and Christopher LaRochelle taught students the skill of jumping during their class sessions. Following this unit, students had the ability to qualify for a schoolwide contest by jumping consecutively for four minutes. In total, 68 students from fourth through sixth grade accomplished this goal. All of the participants did an amazing job and at the end the three finalists were: sixth-grade Timothy Brown (third place), sixth-grader Sadie Pitrelli (second place) and fourth-grader Peyton Ritchie (first place), who even ended up surpassing the school’s jump rope record by jumping consecutively for 27 minutes and 42 seconds.
