Legendary Broadway And Film Icon Bernadette Peters To Perform At The Staller Center For The Arts' Gala

The multiple Tony Award-winner is known for Into the Woods, Sunday in the Park with George, Gypsy, and Annie Get Your Gun.

STONY BROOK, NY — The legendary Broadway icon Bernadette Peters will perform at the Staller Center for the Arts' Spring 2026 Gala event on May 2.

Mandy Patinkin was previously slated to perform, however, he could not due to a multi-year television filming commitment, according to a promotional for the gala.

Peters will perform celebrated selections from Rodgers and Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim, and Jerry Herman, among others, the promo said.

Her performance will blend Broadway classics, pop standards, and personal storytelling, creating an evening that feels both intimate and spectacular.

Peters has earned multiple Tony Awards and nominations for unforgettable roles in Into the Woods, Sunday in the Park with George, Gypsy, Annie Get Your Gun, Song & Dance, and many more.

Bernadette recently starred in the highly successful run of the Cameron Mackintosh production of Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends, celebrating the life and work of Stephen Sondheim. The production first premiered in London, where she made her West End debut, before transferring to Los Angeles ahead of its extended Broadway run in Spring 2025.

Her performance "will offer audiences a rare opportunity to experience an artist whose name is synonymous with enduring star power," promoters said.

"Few performers have shaped the sound and spirit of Broadway quite like Bernadette Peters," the promotional said. "A celebrated actress, singer, and philanthropist, Peters is one of the most iconic leading ladies in American musical theater, renowned for her luminous voice, charismatic stage presence, and deep connection to the Great American Songbook."

Proceeds from the event will help support the center’s mission to present world-class performances at affordable prices while also enabling free educational outreach programs and opportunities for underserved communities on Long Island.

Her television and film credits include “Smash,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Ugly Betty,” and “Ally McBeal," as well as "Annie," "Pennies from Heaven," "Impromptu," and "The Jerk."

She has recorded six solo albums, including the Grammy-nominated I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight, Sondheim, Etc.: Bernadette Peters Live at Carnegie Hall, and Bernadette Peters Loves Rodgers & Hammerstein.

Tickets will run from $81 to $256.
