Man Abandoned 3 Dogs, Cat At Suffolk Home: SPCA

The animals were living in deplorable conditions and appeared emaciated, officials say.

CENTEREACH, NY – A 38-year-old man faces animal cruelty charges for allegedly abandoning three dogs and a cat at a Suffolk County home.

The Suffolk SPCA announced the charges against Michael Negron Monday morning. SPCA officers responded to a call from Suffolk County Police Department on Sunday after neighbors filed a complaint that they had not seen anyone at Negron's Centereach home in some time.

The animals were living in deplorable conditions and appeared emaciated, the SPCA said. The animals were removed from the home and signed over to the Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter.

Negron was charged with failure to provide proper sustenance including food, water and veterinary care for the four animals left in the home.

Negron is scheduled to appear in First District Court in Central Islip on June 21.
