Man Treated For Gunshot Wound At Stony Brook University Hospital: Cops

The shooting, including the location of the incident, are under investigation, a police spokeswoman said.

STONY BROOK, NY — Sixth Squad detectives are investigating an incident Saturday in which a man was shot — one of two shootings within a day — and then transported by private vehicle to Stony Brook University Hospital, Suffolk police said.

The man was brought to the hospital with "a gunshot wound" just before 4 a.m., according to police. His age or place of residence was not released. The shooting, including the location of the incident, are under investigation, a police spokeswoman said.

No further information was released by Suffolk's Public Information Bureau.

Saturday's shooting was the second in the area within a day.

On Friday, a 23-year-old man was shot twice — once in his leg and once in the buttocks — while standing outside of a home on Gray Avenue at about 11:10 a.m., police said. He was also taken to Stony Brook, according to police.

No arrests have been made and 6th Squad detectives are continuing to investigate.
