Suffolk Man Seriously Injured When Mercedes Crashes Off Of Nicholls Road: Cops
His Mercedes struck a Honda CRV, then veered off the roadway and slammed into construction equipment, police said.
THREE VILLAGE, NY — A 27-year-old Middle Island man was seriously injured in Stony Brook on Saturday afternoon when the Mercedes Benz he was driving struck a compact SUV and then ran off the roadway into construction equipment, Suffolk police said.
At about 4 p.m., the man was driving a 2009 Mercedes Benz in the left lane of northbound Nicolls Road, between Nesconset Highway and Oxhead Road, when he tried to cross into the right lane and the vehicle struck a 2022 Honda CRV, according to police.
The man lost control of the Mercedes, which traveled onto the right shoulder and continued off the roadway, where it crashed into construction equipment, police said.

He was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, police said, adding that the driver of the Honda, a 38-year-old woman from Little Rock, AK, was uninjured.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks, according to police.

The 6th Squad is investigating, police said.
