'Mondays At Racine' Opens At Setauket Salon Where Everyone's 'Family'

SETAUKET, NY — Gypsy Hair Lounge has begn partnering with the non-profit Mondays at Racine to offer complimentary beauty services to cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.

The salon will be open on select Mondays monthly to donate services for anyone going through chemotherapy or radiation therapy for cancer, according to a post on the salon's Facebook page. The services include non-toxic haircolor, cuts, blowouts, gentle head shaving, and scalp treatments, the post contiues.

"This hits home for most of us on Long Island," the post reads. "So, if you know someone going through this, please pass this information along because we would love to welcome and take good care of them. We are all family @gypsyhairlounge."

The salon celebrated the launch of the program on March 28 with members of the community, as well as local govermental representatives, including Brookhaven Town Councilmember Jonathan Kornreich and Suffolk County Legis. Kara Hahn.

Kornreich noted the opening was supported by many members of the community, calling it "a beautiful event."

"Cancer has touched almost every family in our community in one way or another, and we know all too well the impact it can have on a patient’s physical appearance and emotional well-being," he said. "‘Mondays at Racine’ partners with charter programs like Gypsy Hair Lounge all throughout Long Island to offer free services that help remind those with cancer of how beautiful they are."
