Moving Up at RCM

325 ninth-graders are headed to high school.

The R.C. Murphy Junior High School community marked a milestone for the 325-member ninth-grade Class of 2015 as they celebrated this year’s moving-up ceremony in mid-June.

Gathered in the school’s gymnasium, building administrators and teachers welcomed and congratulated the soon to be high school sophomores on their years of achievement and dedication. Members of the teaching staff presented departmental awards, Assistant Principal Kevin Finnerty announced the winners of this year’s Presidential Academic Fitness Award and Principal Vincent Vizzo oversaw the presentation of Character Achievement Awards and the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. Two graduates were also honored with scholarships from the Three Village Teachers Association.

As a symbolic mark of their transition to the high school, the students concluded the ceremony by crossing the dais one by one to receive their traditional moving-up certificates.
