Nassakeag Elementary Honors the Stars and Stripes

Three Village school marks this year's Flag Day with a traditional ceremony.

The patriotic sound of the “Marine Hymn,” as performed by the advanced band, echoed in the air as Nassakeag Elementary School students and staff took time to celebrate the nation’s freedoms and mark this year’s Flag Day with a traditional ceremony.

With the backdrop of red, white and blue covering the front lawn, the program proceeded with the school’s boy and girl scouts aiding in the raising of the flag while student John Castro performed “Taps” on the trumpet. The remainder of the celebration featured readings by this year’s patriotic poem contest winners and musical performances by each grade level and the joint band and orchestra.
