Nassakeag Says 'No more straws'
Sixth-graders took action to help protect the earth through a letter writing campaign to reduce the use of plastic straws.

From Three Village Schools: Nassakeag Elementary School sixth-graders in Robyn Weinstein’s class took action to help protect the earth through a letter writing campaign to reduce the use of plastic straws.
The students wrote to local food establishments, asking for them to reduce or stop using plastic straws, noting that they have been found in the stomachs and noses of deceased sea animals. Citing the many alternatives to plastic – including bamboos, glass, paper or metal – the students encouraged several locations to embrace this initiative and, to date, one agreed to create a new “straws by request only” policy.
