Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Car In Suffolk County

BREAKING: It happened Monday night, police say. No criminal charges have been filed.

CENTEREACH, NY – An 84-year-old man was struck and killed by a car in Suffolk County Monday night, police said.

According to Suffolk Police, Dominick Geraci, of Joy Road in Selden, was standing on the side of Mark Tree Road, just north of Linda Drive, in Centereach when he was hit by a southbound 2001 Ford Focus shortly before 9 p.m.

Geraci was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The driver of the Ford, a 27-year-old Centereach woman, was not injured and remained at the scene, police said. No criminal charges have been filed.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is ongoing.
