Person On Tracks Disrupts Long Island Rail Road Service At Stony Brook Station: MTA

Police removed the person from the tracks unharmed, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority said.

STONY BROOK, NY — A person was removed from the Long Island Rail Road tracks Monday night at the Stony Brook station, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority said.

The person was trespassing on the tracks west of the station and MTA police responded, found the person, removed them from the tracks without any injuries, according to the agency.

The person was taken to the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation, the agency said.

There were a total of three trains, which were delayed for less than 30 minutes before normal service resumed just before 9:30 p.m., according to the agency. The 8:16 p.m. train from Huntington to Port Jefferson was among those delayed.
