(Speaking of Ward Melville graduates, Steven Matz, a member of the Class of 2009, made his major league debut for the New York Mets on Sunday afternoon. Pitching for the Mets, he gave up just 2 runs and earned the win. The 24-year-old from Stony Brook also went 3-3 at the plate and became the first pitcher in MLB history to have 4 RBIs in his first career game.)
