Police: Brentwood Man Charged in a Dozen Gas Station Robberies

David Murphy is arrested Wednesday night, police say.

A Brentwood man whom police called “elusive” was arrested on Wednesday and charged in a dozen gas station robberies over the past two months across Suffolk County.

David Murphy, 30, is charged with with seven counts of first degree robbery, five counts of second degree robbery and resisting arrest.

Murphy was arrested late Wednesday night after he robbed a Brentwood gas station, police said.

Detectives from the Pattern Crime Unit conducting investigations into previous similar robberies determined Murphy was responsible for 11 other robberies dating back to Aug. 20, police said.

  • Stop and Fuel, 1171 N. Service Road, Sunrise Highway, Bay Shore on Sep. 30
  • Gulf Gas, 1201 Sunrise Highway, Copiague on Sept. 30
  • Mobil Gas, 700 Motor Parkway, Hauppauge on Oct. 3
  • Mobil Gas, N. Service Road, Sunrise Highway, Islip Terrace on Oct. 10
  • Gulf Gas, 1201 Sunrise Highway, Copiague on Oct. 12
  • Gulf Quick Mart, 750 Motor Parkway, Brentwood on Oct. 17
  • Express Gas, 1034 Islip Ave., Brentwood on Oct. 22

Murphy was being held at the 7th Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday.
