Police ID Woman Fatally Struck by Car on Route 347
BREAKING: The woman was attempting to cross Route 347 when she was struck Thursday evening, police say.

Police have identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a car on Route 347 near the Smith Haven Mall Thursday evening.
According to police, Stephanie Semler, 51, of Lake Grove, was crossing Route 347 at New Moriches Road at about 5 p.m. on November 10 when she was struck by a 2016 Honda Civic.
Semler was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital by the Stony Brook Fire Department where she died from her injuries.

The driver of the Honda Civic, a 25-year-old Nesconset woman who police did not name, stayed at the scene and was not injured.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. The investigation is continuing.
