Murphy Junior High School's Science Bowl team #1 recently came in second place during the Long Island Regional Middle School Science Bowl Competition held at the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory. Each year, BNL hosts the competition, which challenges students to answer questions on specific topics in astronomy, biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, earth, computer and general science. The competition includes a round robin followed by a single elimination final. A total of 12 teams from across Long Island competed in this year's contest and Murphy was represented by two teams.
