Spencer Lane Kids Present Check to Stony Brook Children's Hospital

Kind-hearted youngsters held a lemonade stand last month to raise funds.

Last Friday, Kids of Spencer Lane and their friends, presented a check to the Stony Brook Children’s Hospital with the proceeds they earned from their lemonade stand last month.

The kids raised $1,010 from lemonade sales, and were recognized by members of the hospital staff, as well Gov. Cuomo, who sent a proclamation to the children.

All the children who volunteered are students in Three Village School District (Nassakeag Elementary, Murphy & Gelinas.) Children ages 4-14 volunteered to make signs, lemonade and sell it during the one-day sale.

The kids worked very hard and easily sold 500-cups of lemonade! One of the highlights was a visit from the Setauket Fire Department- they sent a truck down & the kids got to sit inside.

Next year they already have plans on making it an even bigger event, possibly selling cotton candy and popcorn too!

A hospital spokeswoman said an anonymous donor connected to the hospital will be matching the contribution, making their total $2,020!

Madeline Mastriano, 14, and her brother Joseph, 11, first organized this now annual event last year with the children living on their block as their way of “giving back to the kids who are being treated at the hospital, and don’t get to have a summer.”
