Spend Thursday Nights in August at Smith Haven Mall

Following its kick-off last month, Smith Haven Mall will continue to offer free, live musical performances each week in August during its Summer Concert Series. Now in its fourth year, the series features family-friendly entertainment every Thursday at 6 p.m. and continues weekly through September 17.

“Since The Summer Concert Series began in July, we’ve seen Long Islanders come to our beautiful outdoor Lifestyle Village equipped with lawn chairs and their love of music each week,” commented Ann M. Schultz, director of mall marketing and business development for Smith Haven Mall. “We are just getting warmed up and in August will present a wide range of family-friendly music that speaks to nearly every generation. We look forward to welcoming concert goers to spend their Thursday nights with us this month and take in free concerts and complimentary nibbles under summer night skies.”

The Summer Concert Series at Smith Haven Mall is free entertainment, open to the public and takes place in the mall’s Lifestyle Village. Guests are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, as seating will be limited.

Event attendees can take advantage of an array of special food sampling by the mall’s restaurants and eateries, which vary each week. Participating restaurants and eateries include Bobby’s Burger Palace, Bonefish Grill, California Pizza Kitchen, P.F. Chang’s China Bistro, Bahama Breeze, Auntie Anne’s Pretzels and Teavana. In addition, select retailers will be on-hand with product demonstrations during events including L’Occitane, Cohen’s Fashion Optical, Bare Minerals and Sur La Table.

The August line-up includes:

• August 13 – King Kai: Jimmy Caiazzo, also known as King Kai, takes on the role of Elvis Presley in this tribute, emulating his likeness and style, performing the King’s catalog of hits. He won the international Elvis Extravaganza competition in Memphis in 2002.
• August 20 – 45 RPM: Formed in 2010, this six-member band plays note-perfect renditions of songs from the 70’s, the heyday of top-40 AM radio. Voted Best Cover Band in 2013 and 2014 in Long Island Press’ Best of LI feature, 45 RPM has an impressive following and plays in venues across Long Island, as well as private functions.
