Stony Brook Hospital Named To America's 100 Best Hospitals

STONY BROOK, NY — It's the fourth consecutive year that Stony Brook University Hospital is one of four hospitals in New York included in Healthgrades' America's 100 Best Hospitals for 2022 — placing it among the top two percent for clinical care and outcomes for conditions and procedures most commonly treated.

Dr. Hal Paz, executive vice president of Health Sciences at Stony Brook University, said "the health system continues to be a national leader in patient care," and making the list again stands "as a testament to the hard work and dedication of the outstanding teams here at Stony Brook."

"I’m proud of my colleagues and all of our staff and faculty who work tirelessly to ensure quality patient care every day," he added.

Carol Gomes, chief executive officer of the hospital, said the "exceptional outcomes are only possible when a hospital commits to high standards of quality and continuous improvement throughout the organization."

The hospital strives to make a positive impact on the lives of those on Long Island, officials said, adding that in the past year, the hospital delivered "lifesaving treatments and advanced care options to benefit patients during the COVID-19 pandemic, while at the same time providing high-quality, safe patient care."

Stony Brook joins three other hospitals upstate, including Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall, Northern Westchester Hospital, and Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
