STONY BROOK, NY — Stony Brook University has the ninth best nursing school program in New York, according to 2020 rankings by RegisteredNursing.org.

"The Stony Brook University - School of Nursing offers several baccalaureate pathways to an RN education," the RegisteredNursing.org website reads. "Stony Brook prides itself on its innovative, high-quality, and accessible nursing programs. Clinical experiences take place at Stony Brook University Medical Center, which is the only level-one trauma center in the area. Upon graduation from this accredited institution, students are eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination-Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN) exam."

The site ranked the top-50 nursing schools in New York by analyzing current and historical NCLEX-RN "pass rates," meaning the percentage of graduates who pass the exam, out of the 101 RN programs in the state. Programs reviewed include schools that offer an associate in Nursing (ADN/ASN), BSN, or Direct-Entry MSN Degree.

"Selecting the best nursing school in New York can be difficult," the site wrote. "To make the process easier first look for a school that supports students towards licensure and beyond. A great way to measure this is through NCLEX-RN 'pass rates.'"
