Suffolk Legis. Kara Hahn Declares Victory In Reelection Campaign

After absentee ballots were counted, her lead stood at "an insurmountable 752 votes" garnering her 52% of the vote, her camp said.

EAST SETAUKET, NY — Suffolk Democrats on Thursday declared victory for Legis. Kara Hahn with voters reelecting her with over 52% of the vote to a 6th term in office in the 5th Legislative District.

Hahn’s lead stands at "an insurmountable 752 votes," after absentee ballots were counted and only 52 provisional ballots are left to count, according to a news release from her camp.

"On an otherwise challenging Election Day for Brookhaven Democrats, Kara’s victory proves she knows how to earn the trust of swing voters and build a winning coalition, no matter the political environment," the news release stated.

Hahn said she is "honored to have the ongoing support of the community" where she grew up and has served for the last 10 years.

“I look forward to continuing to deliver results on issues that can make a meaningful impact in the day-to-day lives of working families in this community," she added.

Hahn has represented the 5th Legislative District, which includes the hamlets of Stony Brook, Setauket, Port Jefferson, Port Jefferson Station, and Terryville within Brookhaven Town. She is known for her tireless work combating the opioid epidemic, championing environmental initiatives, and advocating for victims of domestic violence.
