The Three Village Mock Trial Team, comprising nine students from P.J. Gelinas Junior High School and Ward Melville High School, recently completed their inaugural season.
During the year, the students entered six competitions and advanced to the semifinal round of the county competition at First District Court in Central Islip before judges.
To prepare for the competitions, the students practiced between four and eight hours a week under the guidance of Douglas Elliot, a Paul J. Gelinas JHS teacher, to learn legal terms, crafting arguments, critical thinking and elocution.
