Three Village Science Teams Head to State Competition

The junior high teams recently dominated the competition during this year's Eastern Regional tournament.

From Three Village Central School District: P.J. Gelinas and R.C. Murphy junior high schools Science Olympiad teams recently dominated the competition during this year’s Eastern Regional tournament, as the two Three Village schools had teams ranked second and first, respectively.

Murphy's A team won nine first-place medals, five second-place medals and four third-place medals. Their lowest place was third in all of the events that they competed in. Gelinas' A Team won eight first-place medals, three second-place medals and four third-place medals. Both of the schools B teams finished in the top five, with the Gelinas B placing fourth and winning 14 medals, and the Murphy B finishing fifth and winning 13 medals. The Murphy C team placed 17th winning four medals and Gelinas C team placed 14th winning four medals.

Now, the schools will be represented by one team each at the New York State Science Olympiad competition, which will be held on April 13-14.
