Ward Melville High School’s Yearbook Staff Earns National Acclaim
The team captured six awards when attending the JEA/NSPA National High School Journalism Convention in Washington D.C.

From Three Village Schools: Ward Melville High School’s Invictus yearbook staff captured six awards when they recently attended the JEA/NSPA National High School Journalism Convention in Washington, D.C.
The event, which is the semiannual gathering of high school journalists and advisers is co-sponsored by the Journalism Education Association and the National Scholastic Press Association, which is the largest gathering of student journalists in the country. During the convention, the students participated in hundreds of practical and professional learning sessions and competed in various competitions in categories such as writing, design and photography.

In addition, Emily Schneider's poster design was chosen by the Journalism Education Association to promote and represent the JEA Scholastic Journalism Week. This was a national competition in which students from throughout the country submitted designs that strove to represent the theme "Big Questions, Big Results." According to JEA, the Scholastic Journalism Week "celebrates student journalists who ask important questions about the world around them and thoroughly and accurately convey solid reporting to benefit the audience in a big way."
