Ward Melville's Christian Araneo Captures Second Straight State Wrestling Title

Christian will be attending Princeton University in the fall.

Ward Melville High School senior and wrestling all-star Christian Araneo captured his second straight win at the New York State Wrestling Championship on Feb. 27 in Albany.

Competing in the 195-pound weight class, Christian proved to be a tough competitor throughout the championship and clinched the winning title with a score of 3-1.

The top wrestler has been a member of the Ward Melville team for six years and on the varsity lineup since eighth-grade. He holds a varsity career record of 179 wins 29 losses; many of those upsets were in his early years as a varsity wrestler. In the last two years he only suffered one loss and he completed this year’s season undefeated.
