A Winning Penny For Your Thoughts

Arrowhead Elementary students sifted through dozens of pennies over the past two months in search of the oldest penny in the community.

THREE VILLAGE, NY - From Three Village Central School District: Arrowhead Elementary School students in the Three Village Central School District sifted through dozens of pennies over the past two months in search of the oldest penny in the community — a challenge that was sparked by the local Gold Coast Bank branch.

The contest winner was Charlotte Plagainos, a kindergartner who found a penny from 1802. The runner-up was James-Henry Parkinson, a fourth-grader whose penny was dated 1847. For their participation in the contest, Charlotte was awarded a $100 prize, James-Henry was presented with $50 prize and the school’s
PTA was the recipient of a $500 prize.
