• Tonawanda supervisor proposes tax increase in 2027 town budget (wivb.com) — Town of Tonawanda residents are looking at a proposed 3.9% property tax levy increase in the 2027 budget, as Supervisor John Flynn says higher costs and public safety needs make it necessary. He argues the hike stays below local inflation and could prevent steeper jumps later. Board workshops in October will determine whether the plan moves forward.
   

• Upstate NY man pleads guilty to killing his wife with a hammer (syracuse.com) — A 37-year-old Tonawanda man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for killing his wife with a hammer at their Cleveland Drive home earlier this year. Prosecutors say the victim died from blunt force trauma, and the case was ruled a homicide. He now faces up to 25 years to life when sentenced in November.
