20-Story Luxury Condo Building Tops Out On The UES
A new tower is joining the Upper East Side skyline, in a lot that's been empty since 2017.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A new luxury condominium under construction on the Upper East Side has reached its full height, marking a major milestone for the 20-story project at the corner of Second Avenue and East 72nd Street.
The building, 260 East 72nd St., is one of the newest high-end residential developments coming to the neighborhood and is replacing a long-stalled project after the site changed hands in 2024.
The site originally was being developed by the Chetrit Group, who are currently facing legal challenges and allegations of shoddy business practices.

"The development reflects our commitment to delivering exceptional homes that stand the test of time and are defined by thoughtful architecture, quality craftsmanship, and enduring value," Simon Dushinsky, founder and CEO of Sky Equity Group, said. "We look forward to launching sales this fall and continuing to grow our footprint in some of the country’s most dynamic residential markets."
The building, once complete, will include 60 luxury condos, ranging from two- to five-bedroom units.

The building, designed by Peter Pennoyer Architects, features a brick and limestone exterior with terraces and large windows.
According to the New York City Department of Buildings, the new building has been under construction since May 2024, when the very first permit was filed for demolition.
Before it was a construction site, it was the Catholic Church of Saint John the Martyr, which was closed in 2015 and demolished in 2017 after the congregation was combined with another local congregation, the New York Times reported.
The building is expected to launch sales this fall, and prices haven't been announced yet, according to developer Sky Equity Group.
