3-Alarm Upper East Side Fire Spreads To Multiple Units: FDNY
FDNY says the blaze also spread to the building's cockloft.
UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Hours after a three-alarm fire broke out Christmas Day at an Upper East Side building, road closures remained in effect in the area. Several people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, police said.
By 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, officials reported the fire had been extinguished.
Multiple top-floor residential units were damaged, according to the New York City Fire Department. The blaze at 409 E. 69th St. also spread to the cockloft.

East 69th Street was closed between 1st and York avenues, with heavy traffic as a result, NYPD's 19th Precinct advised at 12:15 p.m.
