70-Year-Old Slapped In Face On Upper East Side 6 Train, Police Say

A woman was slapped in the face multiple times during an argument with another woman on a train traveling through the Upper East Side.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a woman who slapped a 70-year-old during an argument on the subway, police told Patch.

The argument began on Friday, Sept. 8, shortly after 2:15 p.m. when an unidentified woman boarded a northbound 6 train at East 68th street and sat down next to a 70-year-old woman, police told Patch. The 70-year-old attempted to move seats when the woman's elbows made contact with her, which set off a verbal argument, police said.

The unknown woman stood up, confronted the 70-year-old woman and then slapped her in the face, police said. The woman then re-engaged the 70-year-old victim and struck her again, police said.

The assailant got off the train at the East 86th Street station and fled in an unknown direction, police said. The victim got off the train one stop later at East 96th Street and reported the crime to police. The 70-year-old woman was treated for pain and swelling to her face and head but refused further medical assistance, police told Patch.
