83-Year-Old Woman Struck, Killed by Car on Upper East Side: Police
The woman was struck by a car backing up through the intersection of 3rd Avenue and East 71st Street.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Police have identified an elderly woman killed in a car collision on the Upper East Side last weekend.
Lee Strong, 83, was hit by a vehicle in the intersection of Third Avenue and East 71st Street around 10:40 a.m. Saturday, police told Patch. When first responders arrived on the scene they found Strong unconscious and unresponsive, suffering from head trauma, police said. Strong was taken to nearby Weill Cornell Medical Center where she was pronounced dead one day later.
Strong was hit by a car driving in reverse through the intersection to get to a parking spot, police told Patch. Strong was struck by the vehicle's rear driver side as she walked into the crosswalk, police said.

The car, a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse, was being operated by an unidentified 41-year-old man. The vehicle operator remained on scene and has not been charged.
The NYPD Collision Investigation Squad is still investigating the collision, police said.
