85-Year-old Man Sucker Punched in Carl Schurz Park: Police
The elderly victim was sent to the hospital and suffered lacerations to his head and eye when he was punched in the Upper East Side park.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — An elderly man walking in Upper East Side's Carl Schurz Park was attacked in broad daylight.
The victim, 85, was taking a stroll through the park Tuesday around 3 p.m. when an unidentified man approached him from behind, police said. Without warning, the man punched the 85-year-old in the side of the head, knocking him to the ground, police told Patch.
The victim suffered lacerations to the back of his head and his eye, and was treated at Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.

Police described the attacker as a man in his 40s last seen wearing a black coat, blue jeans and a red knit cap.
Crime statistics for the 19th precinct show that 98 felony assaults and 259 misdemeanor assaults have taken place on the Upper East Side this year. Compared to 2015, felony assaults are down at a rate of 3.9 percent and misdemeanor assaults are up at a rate of 11.6 percent.
